How to reach Milan city center

How to reach the center of Milan from Milan Linate airport

Option
M4 metro to San Babila, then on foot or change to the M1 for Duomo
Time
about 15-25 minutes
Cost
about €2.20

Milan Linate airport is just a few kilometers from the center of Milan and is well connected to the city. The fastest and most convenient option is the M4 metro, which links the airport directly to the city center.

Recommended option

The recommended option is to take the M4 metro straight from Linate Aeroporto station towards San Babila. The ride to San Babila takes about 12 minutes. From San Babila you can walk to the Duomo in about 10 minutes, or continue on the M1 metro for one stop to Duomo.

It is the best option for speed, cost and simplicity: it avoids traffic and uses a standard ATM city ticket.

Budget option

The cheapest option is to use ATM public transport. You can take the M4 metro from the airport to San Babila with a city ticket costing about €2.20. The same ticket also covers any transfers to other metro lines, trams or buses within its validity.

For the center of Milan, the M4 metro is also the most practical budget option: the cost is low and the journey time is very competitive.

Taxi

Taxis are available outside the arrivals area of Linate airport. The trip to the center of Milan, for example Duomo or San Babila, usually takes between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

The approximate cost is usually between €20 and €35, but it can vary with traffic, time of day, surcharges and the exact destination.
